The Deliberative Democracy Clubs movement began in July 2025 when a group of Research Assistants at the Stanford Deliberative Democracy Lab recognized the growing polarization and lack of civil discourse among our communities. We noticed that meaningful dialogue was becoming increasingly rare, and we knew something needed to change.

What started as a small team coming together to address this challenge has grown into a network of high school chapters, each committed to fostering deliberative democracy in their communities. We believe that democracy works best when citizens are informed, engaged, and able to work together across differences to find common solutions.

Today, our network spans multiple high schools and continues to grow. We're proud to be part of a broader movement toward more deliberative, participatory democracy that values both individual rights and collective responsibility.
